The Challenge
The training department at a global manufacturer wanted to design and implement a sales training program that would address its customers’ expectations as expressed in various studies and surveys they had conducted, while setting the benchmark for the achievement of the corporation’s sales certification. They chose ILS for the project.
The Solution
After we reviewed the initiative, research, and studies conducted, we conducted focus groups to gather input from the client’s training department, regional and field staff. We then developed and documented sales standards, processes, steps and practices that led to the creation of the Professional Sales Program, a 10-module sales certification program.
We became responsible for designing and developing the new bilingual program. The training system we developed was a self-paced, flexible, and integrated web-based training program. We applied current eLearning best practices to design and build an eLearning interface for the program. The interface received approval for compliance with new guidelines and the client’s global standards for online training.
We developed the program using storyboards and an interactive, varied approach that drew on multiple modes of learning (audio-visuals, graphics, videos, text, interactive exercises, and practice examples), and we ensured the development and migration of these modes to web.
The Benefits
The solution we developed for the Professional Sales Program resulted in an engaging, integrated approach that recognizes each user as an individual and responds to a diverse set of business and learner needs. Hosted on the corporate university website, the program is easily accessible and we provide technical support through our help line as well as day-to-day program management. All training records are stored in a corporate university database and reports are produced and posted as required.
